Back in 2017, the Harvard Business Review conducted a study uncovering the most valuable employee benefits according to job seekers. 88% of respondents said that more flexible hours was a key factor when considering whether or not to accept a job, on par with consideration of health, dental, and vision insurance.
Another 80% ranked work from home options as a top consideration, with candidates willing to consider lower-paying job opportunities in order to access these benefits.
In a more recent study conducted by Microsoft in 2021, 73% of employees want to maintain flexible or remote work options post-pandemic. In a separate study conducted by WeWork, 75% of employees surveyed said they would be willing to give up at least one benefit or perk, including healthcare coverage, cash bonuses, and paid time off, for the freedom to choose their work environment. Finally, a survey by Robert Half revealed that 34% of respondents working from home currently because of the pandemic would rather look for a new job than return to the office full time.
